Expertise and experience

Bertie is an experienced retail and finance executive and a chartered accountant. After starting his career in auditing where he was an associate director at PricewaterhouseCoopers, he embarked on a career in retail. Bertie spent six years with the Clicks Group, including serving as head of finance for Clicks, and during this time obtained his MBA (cum laude) from Stellenbosch University. He joined Pepkor in 2014 where he was the Chief executive: finance of Pep Stores for almost a decade. In 2025, Bertie founded Amber Tribe Consulting which specialises in training in retail, finance and strategic management. He continues to provide part-time finance project and training services to Pepkor.
